Hamish Linklater: Discussion and Signing

Tuesday, May 16, 2017 - 5:00pm

The Drama Book Shop is pleased to welcome playwright and actor Hamish Linklater (The Vandal) for a discussion about his new play The Whirligig, opening at The New Group in May. The Tuesday, May 16th, 5:00pm event is free and open to the public. Following the discussion, Mr. Linklater will sign copies of his plays.

Hamish Linklater made his Broadway debut in 2011 in Seminar, but he’s been an in-demand off-Broadway actor for more than a decade, notably in Public Theater Shakespeare productions (Hamlet, Twelfth Night, The Merchant of Venice) and in an Obie-winning star turn in The School for Lies. TV audiences know him from The New Adventures of Old Christine and The Crazy Ones, opposite Robin Williams. Not just an acclaimed performer, Linklater's celebrated plays The Vandal and The Cheats have been performed in New York and beyond.

In Linklater’s The Whirligig, set to begin previews May 4, Norbert Leo Butz and Dolly Wells will play a couple caring for their estranged, ailing daughter in Berkshire County. “Broken-hearted and giddy with love and confusion, surprising visitors from Julie's complicated past, including her childhood best friend Trish (Zosia Mamet) and her former drug dealer, practically trip over each other to reach the young woman they thought they'd lost years before but still feel so deeply connected to,” read production notes. Directed by Elliott, performances will be in The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre with an official opening night set for May 21. Noah Bean, Jon DeVries, Alex Hurt, Jonny Orsini and Grace Van Patten round out the show's ensemble. To learn more, visit www.thenewgroup.org.
